STOKVIS ENERGY EQUIPS YEATMAN HOSPITAL, SHERBORNE

Three of Stokvis Energy System’s new wall hung condensing boilers have been selected as an ideal replacement for a large out-dated unit which had become unreliable.

The cascade style installation was carried out for the North Dorset Primary Care Trust at the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne by H W Smith & Sons (Contractors) Ltd.  The specification was made on the basis of the manufacturer’s reputation for reliability as well as the Econoflame R30’s potential to provide high efficiency combined with low environmental impact; through fully modulating operation with ultra low NOx emissions.

H W Smith & Sons’ Mechanical Contracts Manager, Gordon Luff, comments: “We do a lot of work for the North Dorset Primary Care Trust, Dorset County Council and all the other authorities and have installed Stokvis boilers in many planned upgrade contracts.

“However in this instance one of the old Hamworthy boilers broke down over a busy period and we began by fitting an Econoplate plate heat exchanger to help cope.  It was then decided in consultation with David Hambidge, Head of Estates for the North Dorset Primary Care Trust to fit the three new wall mounted boilers, and other equipment as well to complete the improvements.  Aside from a minor commissioning problem which the Stokvis engineer came down and rectified, the job went very smoothly.”

The work carried out within the plant room serving the Yeatman Hospital’s Stewart Wing featured the installation of an E4A25D Econoplate packaged plate heat exchanger with a direct on mains kit and a 500 litre buffer vessel, as well as the trio of R30/85 boilers.  The cascade firing sequence of these is controlled by a KKM unit.
